Wilson Combat bad-mouthing the 300 Blk

Post by hardcase »

You can always tell when you are a success by some of your competitors taking cheap shots. Read about 1/2 way down the page. http://www.wilsoncombat.com/7-62x40-wt-rifles/ These guys say they overcome the in-accuracy issues of the 300 Blk with their 7.62x40.

Not sure what Wilson is talking about. I have a 18" Wilson Combat Match grade barrel and 5 sub moa loads with that barrel. Maybe mine is a fluke but I will keep it. :P

buying a barrel that cost more than $89 and then tuning a load to said barrel also generally overcome's any inaccuracy issues 300blk might have.

High end barrel with factory Barnes black tips can shoot 1/2 MOA.

Opinions are like homeless liberals...you don't want to listen to them and they all stink.

I've never heard of this blog before but here it is: Antelope at 400 yards. http://shwat.com/TheStories/tabid/85/En ... -Test.aspx

Bill Wilson was involved to some extent with the 300 Blackout. He split on the project and then decided to lengthen the case and lie about 7.62x40 being 200 FPS faster, when according to Robert it is only about 80 FPS faster at 55,000 psi compared to a Barnes 110 Blacktip at 2414 FPS at 55,000 psi.

Who knows, but the accuracy claim is marketing lies to sell people on the bullet.
I've only seen loaded 7.62x40 for sale from Wilson Combat.

Oddly, perhaps, my 8" 125 dollar CMMG barrel shots better groups than my 16" Wilson Combat barrel.

I suspect that a guy selling a competing caliber isn't exactly unbiased. 300 Blackout is mainstream now; the Wilson cartridge is going to stay a wildcat.
Making the bad man go away since 1982.

About as bad as Bill Alexander bad mouthing the 300 then announcing his line of subsonic ammo for it.

What shows the crooked nature of Alexander's company and him was talking about how expensive all subsonic ammunition was and that he was going to revolutionize this by introducing a high quality subsonic bullet that hasn't been seen before at an affordable price. Well, he introduced a low quality plated bullet for something like 36.00/box

Edit: I ignored him and his company after that video and ammunition release. he must have cancelled the revolutionary bullet and introduces Berger bullets loaded for 300 blackout. Current prices on his website.

He must be very detached from the American people and the 300 Blackout ammunition market.

Wilson's QC has gone down the toilet per some forum postings I found when looking up info on their .458 socom barrels. Ended up getting a Satern via Brownells instead. Plus, with Brownells lifetime returns I can always get a new bolt if I manage to break the lugs.

Barrel showed up today - looks pretty darn nice so far!

Disclaimer: I have a ton of money in WC parts in my 2011's, and one of them is carried daily to save my ass should I need it. I hope they don't run themselves out of business.

Mine as well call it the 7.62x40WTF?

Some companies are just not that smart about 300blk. Most are though! Even Swiss arms (the real sig) is making a 300blk 553 now. As soon as steel case 300blk come on the market every other ar15 caliber will start to look stupider and stupider. For most people 300blk just fits perfectly. 5.56x45 might be better for general combat and of course .308 is the single best all around caliber ar to own. But the plucky little 300blk will do everything most ar15 shooters want/need.
