My First 300 AAC Blackout - Radical Firearms 10.5"

Post by WAWII »

My Radical Firearms Complete Upper arrived! I've now mated it with the Anderson Rifles Lower I built and shoot a couple of rounds into my indoor trap (It's a little hard on it so I won't do that much).

NICE! I can't wait to get it out to a range and shoot it some more. Some day when either I get out of the commy state or this commy state allows suppressors I plan on getting one and trully enjoying the benefits of the 300 Blackout.

Looks good.
Be sure and post your first range results. I have been curious how the Radical uppers perform.

I bought the same upper, it looks really nice. I haven't been able to sit it yet, do I can't give a report there. I ordered mine with the standard BCG and handle, installed a linear comp, and a Vortex Strikefire as well. I need to find my taller mount, as the optic is almost touching the rail.
I used a Spikes lower, BCM LPK, Phase 5 buffer assembly.
Glad yours is working well, hope to have the same result.

For whatever reason, you won't receive many replies concerning Radical Firearms.
I have a 10.5" Radical Firearms upper and it will shoot lights out. I'm shooting NOE 311-247-FN, NOE 311-198-SP, and various Sierra jacketed bullets. I have shot many groups at 50 yards that measure around .5". I am currently refining my loads and will extend my range out to and including 200 yards.

Here is my initial build.

I had a radical firearms 10.5" and loved it. It shot great groups out to 100 yards and dropped deer very well.

only switched it up to 8" cmmg barrel to reduce weight and make it easier in the woods.

Well, I've still not made it to an outdoor range. I've only got 24 rounds through the Pistol, mostly rough siting in the Vortex. It runs great and no isses, even alternating between subs and supers.

The last 4 rounds were two Supers, and 2 Supsonics shoot at 15 yards. The target is one I printed and not to a proper scale, but I got a 1/2" group from the 4 rounds through my 4-MOA Red Dot Sight. Rested my forward grip hand on a table for sighting so not too bad.

Now to get to a 50 and 100 ayrd range and properly sight in the red-dot as well as continue to break in the gun for better consistent shoots.

Well, I got some out door shooting time in at 100 yards.

A little perplexed.

The Remington 220g Subsonic (1015fps) shot about 6" to the right of the Gemtech 147g Supersonic (2000fps).

There was almost as much left right difference as there was elevation difference between super and sub's.

I know one thing, with my old eyes the 4moa non-magnification red-dot will not be what I leave on this riffle for any distance shooting.

Any one else seen a left-right difference in suber-sub sonic rounds? :?:

Well, I got a second day of shooting out to 100 ayrds. between the two days I shot 116 rounds.

Granted with no magnification and my 55 year old eyes I’ll be upgrading to a different scope with magnification, it was a please to shoot the pistol out to 100 yards.
Image

The final 7 three shot groups at 100 yards with the Supersonic Ammo I had 3-shot groups from as tight as 1.5” to 6.375” with an average of 3.75” with a 4 MOA red dot.

However:
Shooting at 100 yards with the Subsonic the group dropped as expected, but was 5.25” to the right.
Shooting at 50 yards the Subsonic group was 2.75” to the right.

The Subsonics constituently shot to the right of the Supersonics. If this normal? Is there something I’m missing or not aware of?

Is the barrel a right hand twist?

I'm not sure, I'll have to check, it is a 1:8 twist rate.
