Been meaning to get the label maker out and label my 5.56 and 300 mags. Think this story will get me off my butt and do it.
Glad everyone is ok!

I have my uppers labelled on both sides of the ejection port cover. It might look kind of tacky but with all the trouble I went through to build a SBR, I'd hate to mess up the lower.

I don't have the mags labeled. I use to when I kept one or two loaded. Now I just store them empty, only loading whichever rifle is in use. Since I reload, I keep the loaded mags in a baggy with a post-it note of what is in it.

To the OP:
How did your lower fair through this?

.223 = Pmags

300 = Lancers

Very hard to make a mistake this way, the moment you pick up a Lancer you'll know it, they just feel weird.

Sad that you killed a BCM, but I'd guess it might be the reason nobody got hurt, they make good stuff.

Well, I'm out a barrel, extractor, pmag and most likely an upper receiver. Could have been much worse. No one lost any fingers or eyes outta the deal. Lesson learned! I will never have two different calibers in the same vicinity ever again. Thanks for all your help and concern.
