I never have. Anyone who has actually shot the round seems to love it. The online BS about 300blk is almost as thick as the online BS about Trump. Grief! The singular thing keeping 300blk from being as popular as .223/5.56 is the lack of cheap/junk imported steel case ammo. Take ammo cost out of the equation and 300blk takes all.
I am hoping to hear amusing stories about 300blk hate.

I've met people who claim they have shot 300blk and then go on to say that they don't like it.

I know a guy who told me a year ago the company he works for was this close ->||<- to setting up manufacturing in Romania, or the Czech Republic, or somewhere. Who knows. I'll ask him next time I see him. Don't know him quite well enough to read his BS dipstick.RAINS wrote:The singular thing keeping 300blk from being as popular as .223/5.56 is the lack of cheap/junk imported steel case ammo.
As for 300 hate, haven't seen any other than from the deer that were on the wrong end. I shoot at a small private club, and if there are five other guys when I go, usually one of them will be shooting a BLK. Everyone who's shot my suppressed SBR had a big grin on their face.
Re: Have you ever met anyone who did not like shooting 300blk?
you have to remember these days words hurt so people who shoot rifles of different bore size need to retreat to there safe place when you point out my gun kills just the same as your gun. the blackout is not the be all , end all, but is a unique and very versitle round. I enjoy mine and they fill a void between my 5.56 and 308 rifles very well . I really dont understand why people think because they like a particular object everybody else has to.
Last saturday I had a guy get mad as hell at me because I was shooting a single stack 1911 45 acp in a uspsa match . He just couldnt understand I was there to have fun and prefer the 1911 to all the wonder 9mm's and 40 cals . He told me I would never be able to compete yet I blew right past him when is super duper 3500 dollar open class pistol would fire one round and then he had to handl cycle it every time . I went home tired , dirty with a nasty gun to clean but I enjoyed every minute of the day . I finished in the middle of the pack and am ok with that .He went home pissed .

only in the case of pure fanboy of another caliber. and no they're not a 6.x person
its more of a 'i already have a X what do i need a blackout for' type thing. i cant say they have anything against it specifically.
i had a non-blackout shooter mention something about "that whisper thing that never went anywhere" or something like that the other day when i was in cabelas and talking to the reloading guy. when i mentioned that "that whisper thing" is now the blackout and told him it was more than a subsonic round, suddenly he got quite a bit more interested. i wont say i converted him, but he walked away from our couple minute conversation with a whole different look at things that he wasn't even aware of. i'll give him credit, when i pointed out that it wast only about subs he was at least willing to listen and be open minded. he seemed truly surprised to find out that it was capable of being nearly a side by side match for the x39, even in a shorter barreled platform.

Re: Have you ever met anyone who did not like shooting 300blk?
Honestly.... I'm not 100% sold on it. I love the AR platform. And the one thing I don't like about the 5.56 is the small projectile. That being said, the 300BLK does fix my problem getting rid of the smaller 5.56, and it has other benefits like the whole easily suppressed thing and the fact that there's so much more energy hitting the target.
But I'm just not having lots of luck with my reloads for some reason, and that's the only reason I'm not 100% in love with it.
I've been reloading for a while and have great luck loading 5.56 and .308 for accuracy, but I just can't seem to get an accurate load worked up with the 300BLK. I've tried 2 different rifles, using many combinations of about 4 bullets, with A1680, 4227, H110, and still can't get my 100 yard, 5 shot groups under about 4".
But when I go buy some UMC 120gr factory ammo.... I can get my groups to about an inch which I'm very happy with.
For some reason "I" can't get good results making my own 300BLK ammo even though I can with .223 and .308, so because of that, I'm not 100% on board yet. But I love the "theory" of it and if I could get better loads with it, I'd dump all my 5.56 for it!
I'm not giving up though, will keep trying, and tell others why I think it's a great caliber. One day, I'll figure it out.

Re: Have you ever met anyone who did not like shooting 300blk?
I've had issues with my supersonic hand loads as well. Turned out to be 2 things. One my converted brass had length variations due to a worn out trimmer. I also had my OAL wrong.
I don't see 300blk as the best caliber out there. If I could only have one rifle it would be in .308 Winchester. I do think that for most people 300blk is a better choice than .223/5.56. Shooting that caliber is boring to me. It's loud, blast-y and dose nothing to my county boy wood block targets. I live 5-10min from 5-10 places to shoot. So I make all my own targets.
Where 300blk shines is versatility. The barrel and brass are the only proprietary things about it. Stick it in a rifle and you can get 2500fps! Then you can swing way over to PDW use and still get 2000fps. For HD you can stick expanding subs in it and run it threw a can. Hearing safe!
It's just a modern 7.62x39. People keep saying it's on the way out. Why then dose my local Walmart carry it? Why then are both my local gun shops chronically out of 300blk ammo? Why are they stocking 3 kinds of 300blk at local Bimarts? Why is Cabelas is carrying more than half a dozen brands? In Oregon we like it a lot.
Sorry for the long post. This week I'm on light duty with nerve problems in my wrists. Like most conservatives I want to do things, not sit on my Butt! Scared that pretty soon I'll start liking Weekend At Bernie Sanders for president! Although technically Hillery looks more like a corpse than Bernie.

It's been my experience that the BLK is a little more finicky than some other rifles I load for, but...four inches? That's just not right.Scratch wrote:I've tried 2 different rifles, using many combinations of about 4 bullets, with A1680, 4227, H110, and still can't get my 100 yard, 5 shot groups under about 4".
