Muzzle Device
I'm new to the board but was hoping for some suggestions. I have a 16 inch barrel and a 16.5 inch quad rail. I was hoping to have just a little bit of muzzle device protruding from the quad. Any suggestions on a muzzle device are appreciated.

Re: Muzzle Device
I really like the STD. It's about 1.7" long, so once screwed on will extend past the barrel about 1".

ETA: Another plus for the STD is that Jim Thurber, a longtime member here, makes them. He's a good guy.

Re: Muzzle Device
Welcome aboard! There are several guys on here that use a device called an STD (Simple Threaded Device) and have given positive reviews of them. I have one and like it a lot. It is designed to push muzzle blast away from the shooter. It is also made by a board member here.

Re: Muzzle Device
another + for Jim & his STD's (god that sounds bad lol)
i've got them on both of my blackouts, as well as on one of my 223 uppers.
great product and really knock the muzzle flash down. i've done some right at dusk comparisons with and without and its astounding.

Re: Muzzle Device
I got a silencerco asr muzzle brake, and maybe eventually a can to go on there. For a 8.5" 300 blk the recoil and blast arent terrible, although a large buffer and brake didnt help as much as i thought. Best shooting gun ive ever had

Love my Linear Compensator Joe Bob Outfitter
Re: Muzzle Device
2 of my muzzle brakes will be replaced with SDTA muzzle brakes to allow a can to be screwed on and off. A thread protector or "pig" type device can be screwed on if desired when the can is off.

Re: Muzzle Device
I had a Miculek muzzle brake on mine, but it was horribly loud to me and any bystanders that happened to be on the sides of me. I changed it out to an STD from Jim and I love it.
Re: Muzzle Device
Went with the STD. Look forward to finishing this build and seeing how it performs. Thanks for all the input.
