Re: SHTF
I have to admit, I am ready on the gun/ammo side and I do have a cabin in the middle of nowhere with spring water but I don't have any food ready. If I had to grab just 3 guns to throw in the truck- AR carbine, 10.22 supressed, and a pistol (whichever I had the most ammo for at the time). If I had to grab just 1 gun-AR carbine, hands down.

Re: SHTF
Since I already live in a location most would bug out to, I'd stay put. I have a neighbor about 400 yds away that could cover me as I could him.
Since I reload, I have plenty of powder and know how to make mines out of supplies on hand. I do have a limited number of mouse traps though. Might have to stock up on these. Also have to make up signs with "mine field, keep out" or the like. The goal being to have intruders to move on.

^^ This^^ I don't have time to read all the posts as of yet but We are about to build a well-situated rural bulletproof castle and won't have to bug anywhere unless we get caught in town when some disaster strikes. We'll always bring our enduros, appropriate weapons and full bug out gear into town at that point. I can tell you that bugging out to a rural area without a prepared and stocked destination is not going to turn out very well41Bear wrote:First off if you still haven't got a place to bug out to you're already in deep *@#* so what you carry won't matter much. Off topic, but do you know any history on that Ruger? I have one just like it, but a later model (black eagle grips). Barrel length looks to be the same, and definitely the same front sight. I got mine at a gun show in California back in the 1980's. I figured it was a one-off until I saw this one. Neat!

other than an actual round count, i can give you the full history as i purchased it new back in april 2011. its a standard MKIII Target 5.5" bull barrel - mod# 10101.
I sent it down to adco in 2013 after i got my sparrow and had them cut it to 4" so bulk box 1260 would stay subsonic & thread it. adco also did the relocation of the front sight for me.
with subs its stupid quiet. with bulk it has some pop, but still comfortably quiet to shoot with no ears. likewise with mini-mags.
generally speaking the gun shoots better than i can

Kinda late here. I would take all of the ammo I have. It would be heavy, and take up space, however in the right scenario it could double as currency;)

Gas is a problem. I thought about buying a storage tank but it doesn't keep. Whereas kerosene does. Maybe time to get a diesel. Too bad my gen doesn't run on diesel.steven11b wrote:... and after the gas you have runs out you wont be getting more...

Thanks plant.one! That makes me think that something similar was done to mine, but a few decades earlier. I'm not familiar with Ruger Mark .22's, so I missed that the sight is original.
