I've got gas....

Post by randyrucker »

I got tired of gas in the face from my suppressed sbr so I couldn't resist this labor day sale at PRI. 15% off. Drive out cost was about 86 bucks. Hope it was a good deal.

Meh, I never liked the gas buster charging handles. Let us know how it works for you.

I MUCH prefer the Gas Vent forward assist replacement and a BCM charging handle. My 10.5" 5.56 with the can on it would blacken your face, but the Gas Vent and BCM charging handle 100% takes care of it.

I dont feel I get much gas face with my AAC 9", but im not shooting supers out of it hardly ever.

Not me, but that thing rjacobs posted about got good reviews also. One of my Spikes uppers doesn't have a forward assist so I went with the handle thing.

I'm a big fan of the PRI Charging handle and have them on all my uppers.
That being said, I would never have tried one if I hadn't won one at a match.
The quality of the handle and it's performance is exceptional and can not be overstated.
After running that first one, I did not mind spending the extra money on the second one.

One other "Trick" is to switch out your forward assist assemble for one of the old school "Tear Drop" forward assemblies.
Prior to installing it, cut or mill a notch in the bottom of it.

That notch will allow gas to vent out the bottom and will then be deflected down by the forward assist "Tear Drop".

A drilled hole at the back of the charging handle takes 10 seconds. Hit the hole with the matte black paint, done. I drilled mine from the right side of the rifle .

Do you have a picture of your hole location? What size of hole?
There's a time for compromise. It's called later.

My stock gas system in my Noveske 16" pistol gas barrel had a little more gas blowback than desire shooting supers/suppressed, but after tuning it with my adjustible gas block it's still shoots everything 100% but has negligible blowback shooting super/suppressed. I even have plenty gas to function my subsonic reloads with LIL GUN powder unsuppressed.
