How is optimum performance for supersonic rounds not attainable in an AR15?
Also while I agree there is debate on twist, I am comfortable that I actually prefer fast twist for supersonic. I know of research showing that it helps supersonic terminal performance with expanding bullets.
I kid you not - I want 1:7 twist for my next 308 specifically for normal supersonic ammunition.

Have you done anything with your 1:4 barrel in .308 yet? Also, I have one of the 1:8 AAC barrels in .308 on my Rem. 700 PSS (of course).300Blk wrote:How is optimum performance for supersonic rounds not attainable in an AR15?

110 VMAX explode in mid-flight above 2050 fps in 1:4 twist (350,000 rpm).
So I have decided that 1:4 twist is too fast for most barrel lengths (unless you want to only shoot solid copper).

You might consider trying out the " CEB .308 ; 100 grn/ 130 grn ESP Raptors "

Good to know. Thanks. Guess I'll stick with 1:8 or 1:7 for .308 and 300 BLK use.300Blk wrote:110 VMAX explode in mid-flight above 2050 fps in 1:4 twist (350,000 rpm).
