I believe a few just did.( Obviousley not requirements Documents)
I do appreciate the 300Blk for its capabilities and potential.

If you want to design a round to penetrate steel - 204 Ruger would be good. But then it won't be as good through more common barriers such as auto glass.
Someone could make a steel or tungsten core 300 BLK if a requirement came up for that. Right now we are only working on ammunition that was actually asked for.

True. Just be nice to see the 300Blk taken to its full potential.
I Am a big fan of this fairly new caliber.
"Precisely a hardened core in this round would be a perfect addition”
Not final addition.

Re: Massive 300blk penetration disappointments.
That is so far down the list of 300 BLK ammunition needs. Let's see where... I will put it at #6.
1. Steel cased ammunition for a low price (Alexander Arms said that Wolf plans to import this soon).
2. A reloader FMJ bullet.
3. An optimal jacketed reloader expanding bullet.
4. Subsonic expanding.
5. A bonded LE bullet.
6. AP ammunition.

I believe Ive seen #1/#2.
Understand.
Hardened core would be nice addition.
Like I said I do like this round.
Appreciate your responses.

Re: Massive 300blk penetration disappointments.
There is no #1.
The closest to #2 is the Sierra 125 MK, but I was thinking that we need something less expensive for practice/plinking. Basically we need the Remington 115 grain UMC bullet for sale to reloaders but I don't see that happening until the backorders for UMC ammunition are caught up - good luck with that.

3 and 4 is what most of us are waiting for.

Re: Massive 300blk penetration disappointments.
What would a #5 give that the Barnes doesn't already provide? It makes me think of the Federal LE .45ACP ammo where Federal has the bonded/tactical LE round and the HST. The HST outperforms the tac bonded in nearly every category of barrier tests, so ATK basically promotes only the HST at this point--I'm surprised they even still carry the bonded--probably just for ppl that are stubborn headed and *must* buy a bonded even though another round will do the "bonded" job better without being bonded.
Is that why it is on the product roadmap/dream list?
Your #1 is spot on IMO, and #4 would be #2 for a lot of ppl I've talked to, as well as myself.

The reason I want bonded lead is to offer something at a lower price point. I don't think everyone can afford solid copper so having a choice would be ideal - but agreed it would not be better.

Hey zpat, I shot a Buck on Friday morning at 122 yards. I was using an AAC 9" Barrel and 300 Barnes VORTX 110 Grainers. The exit wound was large enough to DROP the silencer into. I hope that clears up penetration for you.zpat wrote: I haven't fully absorbed what this means but it certainly has me thinking about its use against big hogs, barriers of varying thickness, IIIa and III vests, etc.
I'd really love to hear from some knowledgeable folks why this doesn't matter, especially in a world where barrier blind is becoming more and more important, if not at least "trendy" to be ready against.
