Just got an e-mail yesterday afternoon confirming this from Joel at Noveske:
"It does appear we are gonna go to the 1n7 even though the 1n8 stabilizes a 240gr already.
The 1n7 300blk will not be available for another 20 days or so.
Kindly, Joel~"
I had e-mailed Noveske last week asking about them about going to 300 AAC BLK uppers with 1:7 barrel since I had seen some standalone Noveske barrels in 300 AAC BLK for sale around the web..... Of course, being ever the impulsive and impatient one, I went ahead and pulled the trigger (pun intended) on a NIB AAC upper (also 1:7) that I found at the San Antonio Gun Show this past Saturday. Kind of wish I had waited as I have heard great things about Noveske barrels, but that AAC upper is sweet too...... !!
Anyone got any experience/thoughts/opinions either way: AAC vs Noveske Uppers?
Thanks.......!!

There are probably between 0 and 5 people in the world who knows which is better, an AAC or Noveske upper - and I am not one of those people.

If you will never shoot more than 220, is the 1/8 fine?
Re: Noveske coming out with 300 BLK Uppers w/ 1:7 barrel....
Everything I've read indicates 1:8 stabilizes at least up to 240 gr so I'd say yes. I just went with 1:7 in case some new subsonic round not yet developed comes along that would benefit from a higher twist rate..... Anybody know if there is anything on the R&D horizon that would make 1:7 twist more critical to have?BRDTX wrote:If you will never shoot more than 220, is the 1/8 fine?

Wasn't so much a question about which one is "better" per se (i.e. in terms of quality). It was more along the lines of which do you prefer and why..... features, finish, etc.....300Blk wrote:There are probably between 0 and 5 people in the world who knows which is better, an AAC or Noveske upper - and I am not one of those people.

OK, I am mostly going to be shooting 110gr super sonic ammo. It will be quite a while before I buy a can and play with sub-sonics. What are advantages / disadvantages of 1/8 twist vs 1/7 twist? I carry my 12"Noveske Barreled Rifle loaded with VOR TX 110gr

No difference whatsoever for supers. Even for subs the difference is negligible. Go with whatever you can find in stock.PoliceMark wrote:OK, I am mostly going to be shooting 110gr super sonic ammo. There is more to it than just weight. length is actually the most important factor. You are not likely to have a lighter bullet that is too long to stabilize in a 1/8 twat barrel. Hard to imagine you would have problem with 1/8 twist even if they were heavier than 220gr.BRDTX wrote:If you will never shoot more than 220, is the 1/8 fine?
