When will 300 BLK become the second most popular AR cartridg
When will it happen?
Re: When will 300 BLK become the second most popular AR cart
Only if it ever becomes widely adopted by the military and ammo is $300/case. I don''t like any of the other calibers either, but I would guess 5.45 and 7.62 probably outsell 300 blk outside of the silencer circle.

7.62x39 you mean? In ARs?
I thought 6.8 was the #1 alternative cartridge right now. At least I read that on a 6.8 forum, and that is about $900 a case. So why must this ammo need to be 1/3 the price of that in order to pass it in sales?

I don't have any idea. I presume 7.62x39 is because they have been making them so long, despite their drawbacks.

I was all for 7.62x39 until I tried twice to make it work.

40 S&W got popular without military adoption. True lots of people felt 9mm was too small, but lots of people think 223 is a mousegun Varmint rifle.

I think it will be second, if ammo prices drop, and upper prices drop, and more manufactures start offering complete rifles.
If the atf could reduce the time for nfa, that would help a lot.

Uppers with no bolt carrier prices are going to drop to $300 by companies like Model 1 Sales. High end uppers will always be high end uppers, as they are in 5.56mm also.
I don't see a sort term path for non-reloaded ammo cheaper than $10 a box.
Even if Wolf got into it, they would want to charge more than that. 30 cal bullets are 2x the weight of 223. 40 S&W prices were more than 9mm and it still got popular.

I thought the umc "blaster ammo"was going to be around 7 or 8 bucks a box retail. I thought I read that on here.

I voted never thinking AR "type" rifle. I could see it happening in terms of AR standard lowers.....but can't see taking it over my .308 right now. Of course, I'm only speaking in terms of what I want...I don't frequent 6.8 forums to see what they claim.
Have to agree that if ammo was cheaper (not expecting it or bothering to ask for it to be)....it would propel it forward alot.

I got a silencer for my wife.......I think it was a good trade!
