Looking for a load to use in my Noveske Rogue Hunter 16" 300blk for this upcoming hunting season.

I've been kicking around getting a 6.5g or 6.8spc but would prefer to stick with my 300 Blackout.

Deer around here are either Whitetail or Mule Deer.

I got all my deer last year with my 300 BLK… I was using the load below I will have to dig out the OAL for the load. I was doing head shots at 11-175 yards with no problems my only issue was the bullet never opened up much.

Barnes 130gr TTSX
H-110 18gr
Remington 7 1/2 primers
OAL?

anything beyond 200 yards might be a bit of a reach on a larger deer for a round which is about the hunting equivalent of a 30-30 or less depending on the round, JMO, YMMV

1000 ft-lbs into the boiler room - although many have had success w/less - .22 LR has killed a lot of deer - shot placement is vital...

Brad, assume you were around 1900 fps muzzle vel w/the TTSX? - not sure what the min reliable expansion vel is for that bullet. if bullet doesnt expand it just pokes an ice-pick hole thru & energy is not imparted to the deer.

110 VMax at 2300 fps will stay above 1000 ft-lbs out to 100 yds or so:

Interested in others opinions. I might hunt with the 110 VMax. Where I hunt (AL jungle) shots are generally inside 100 yds anyway...

What about the Barnes Tac-X 30 SBR bullet? Would that be a better choice?

B.C. is .24 - flatter nose - need to drive it a little faster...

Barnes says it will expand "...down to 1300-1500 fps..."...

here it is @ 2350 fps:

Looks good I may try it; looks like it will expand out to 300 yds, but not sure that's enough oomph for a DRT that far out... again, the jerk at the trigger & shot placement...

Good stuff. I'm going to hunt with mine this year.

One of the reasons why I'm looking forward to this caliber is for deer hunting. Eastern Woods means I don't have to worry about a 300 yard shot often so why not go with 300 BLK!

I have heard great things about VLD's we will see.
