Yea be careful about calling Aaron :D He is an awesome guy to work with. He is building an upper for my brother and myself, I cant wait to play with it. You also get the added bonus of supporting someone who fought to keep us free from the camel jockies. GO GET TO WORK :D

Looking at your pics, i wonder if that's not actually a 10.5?

Here's a couple 10.5's with RIS 2's. clearance is tight.
Nick's (with rail cutout for switchblock):

Also cutout:

18 tooth:

Robb's custom barrel cut to 10 7/16":

A flashhider mount will give you a little extra room versus a flat-backed brake.

Its just a CMMG 10.3" as stated and an M4-2000 Mod 6 can with the Yankee Hill phantom style hider that AAC provided. My 10.5" LMT Barrel was .2" longer and I sold it when I found that the CMMG worked.

I used to prototype and manufacture barrels for some of the bigger names out there. I know from experience that most barrels that are quoted at a certain length are not that length, it's more of a ball-park. Although it was uncommon, some companies I worked with would actually make them a bit shorter using the bolt face to muzzle measurements as a standard.

In short, a 16" barrel may be 16.25" or 15.9 depending on the company.

I hear you, if you are having Aaron make your barrel, I'd just make sure that the shoulder of the barrel is .25" past the end of the rail in order to give yourself breathing room.

Well I may just send him my CMMG barrel to measure off of. How obnoxious is the brakeout hider, is it something needed to act as a blast baffle in 300 Blackout or is it tame enough that it doesnt matter. I prefer the look of the standard and dont see a need in using a brake for a 300

300 BLK is much much much 'gentler' on a can than 5.56. Personally i don't feel a brake is needed with it.
