Winchester is a great powder for the 300-221.

I will dig my data out and report back. Seems it was 242 or 246 that was great for the research I did years back.
H110 was a close second.

I just purchased a 10" Noveski upper (300Blackout), and am waiting on my stamps for my 762 SD.

I played with some numbers in the computer, and wondered if anybody has tried some Blue Dot?? The program says in a 10" barrel and some 200 Gr. Matchking bullets if I load 6.5 Gr and should see 1040 fps and 100% burn. Should be easy on the can.

Anybody tried Blue Dot?

the question is would it generate enough pressure and gas to cycle the action ... few people have tried similar powders and got good velocities , but cycling an ar is a different animal all together .. please try some and let us know !!!

Subsonic powders that seem ok for 210+ grain bullets are:

A1680
Re-7 - may not fit depending on your OAL and bullet.
H-4198 (if your measure can handle it. My Harrells does not drop it well).

I don't think lighter bullets are a great idea for the AR.

You might add
4227
4895
2230C
N116

I havent got to try them extensively yet, but I think I can also make the following powders run subsonic and cycle,
Ramshot (cant remember if it was enforcer or exterminator, whichever is in the burnrate of the above powders.)
2016
Data 68
N133
3031
Ill be coming up with data for all the above and publishing it here.

Also, for those of you with a little shorter gas systems, 2400 does very well, and is quieter than the powders above.

4895 may not fit except with lighter bullets.

4227 may be good.

It would be nice for someone to do a public test with 50 round standard deviations of each of them loaded to 1000 fps.

Ive been able to get some 220's to cycle with 4895.
when I get out of the hospital and have nothing better to do in my wheel chair, I am going make an entire load data manual for the BLK with rediculous diversity, about 20 different powders, oodles of bullet types and weights, and a gell test for each one.

What would be nice is for your book to load each subsonic powder to 1000 fps, and report the cyclic rate of each one with a certain buffer. This is important because someone might report a load as 'it cycles' but it may be 600 rpm. Colt M4 specs are 700-970 rpm, and 600 will be less reliable when cold or dirty.

True, Ill get it as detailed as I can. I have a history of halucinating when on morphine for extended periods of time, this should be interesting.
