Rob, I have a question, I hunt in Dixie. The foothills of South Carolina. You know what that environment is like- lots of trees etc, so a 100 yard shot would really be stretching it- most deer would be 50 yards or less. I like the convenience of the 9" barrel for going in and out of a stand. Should I get a 16" or will the 9" with the 220 grains be sufficient to put deer down at 50 yards or less?
So is the AAC 9" upper the best one? I don't mean that question as a joke either- you know I like pistons, but I know you told me the DI is quieter too and that is really the main reason for me to get the 300 BLK.
I think the AAC 9 inch upper is the best one. I could have designed it anyway I wanted, and picked it the way it is. Even LWRC did theirs as a DI - though they will also make piston ones.
Thank you Rob. I am waiting for the 8" URX III railed version and I'll be getting one. It took me a long time to make this decision. I think what really sealed it for me was handling a box of 300 BLK 220 Grain ammo. I had heard it shot but wasn't quite sold but somehow playing with the bullets did the trick for me. I also think you did very well to choose a cartridge that used the same bolt face and magazine as existing inventory.
