Given your insistence upon hammer forged barrels I'd like to confirm that the barrels you are offering now with your 300 AAC BLACKOUT uppers are indeed hammer forged? Will they be available in lengths other than 9" and 16" as well?silencertalk wrote:
I have a new requirement to only buy hammer forged barrels. DD is making them now and Remington, Ruger, and FN do also. Now sure where LWRC gets theirs.

No, AAC 300 AAC BLACKOUT barrels are not hammer forged - we extended the durability with nitriding (not that 300 AAC BLACKOUT is rough on barrels, as it is a large bore and has little powder).
We may do some long barrels - like 20 inch. I am not sure.

So this process results in barrels comparable to hammer forged chrome lined barrels?silencertalk wrote:No, AAC 300 AAC BLACKOUT barrels are not hammer forged - we extended the durability with nitriding (not that 300 AAC BLACKOUT is rough on barrels, as it is a large bore and has little powder).

No barrels between 9" and 16" are planned?

Nitriding should make the barrel last 60% longer than hard-chrome. Nitriding is what Swiss Arms has been doing to their Sig 550 barrels for decades.
Correct - nothing between 9 and 16.

The Sig barrels are, of course, hammer forged though.silencertalk wrote:Nitriding should make the barrel last 60% longer than hard-chrome. Nitriding is what Swiss Arms has been doing to their Sig 550 barrels for decades.

Will Remington eventually make barrels for the 300? Same lengths?
