Gouged and then.... what exactly? Stayed gouged? Failed? Reversed the rotation of the earth on it's axis?

We're talking about a standard cam pin in a standard DI AR carbine gas system right?

Yes, I am talking about a standard cam pin in a DI setup.
The gouge that I'm referring to is a diagonal indentation in the front area of the cam pin where the pin contacts the bolt carrier.
(Enough so that you could feel a significant groove with your finger nail.)
My thinking was that this was caused by the force of the H-Buffer sending the BCG home since the area where the mark is only makes contact when the bolt rotates into the locked position.
I tried two different cam pins thinking that the first one might have been softer steel and got the same results.
Keep in mind the LMT Enhanced BCG has a different cam path than a standard MILSPEC BCG.
(The BCG will go fully into battery while slowly ride the charging handle, so there isn't anything out of the ordinary there.)

This "gouge" has never impeded operation of the weapon system and I ran it with the MILSPEC pin for several years / at least 2,000rds,
but bothered me enough that I ordered the LWRC pin when I heard about it.
Since the LWRC pin is upgraded to handle additional forces that LWRC encountered in their piston guns, I thought that this pin might work well for me.
Initially, I ordered the pin just because I thought that it was nice to have the front and back of the pin marked.
(I always try to orient my cam pin the same was so that I only had one side of the pin with the gouge mark in it.)
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this pin held up much better than a MILSPEC one.
Light shading that indicates contact are visible on the LWRC cam pin in the areas where the MILSPEC pins were marred.

Have my upper reciever, PRI Tube, ARMS 38 SPR-PEQ-2 Sleeve, and BUIS in hand.
Getting ready to order the BCG and Charging Handle, so your results will steer that purchase.

Thanks again!

He was pulled into something at the last minute, but should be back shortly. I do not have enough ammo to do a bunch of shooting, and will shoot up what I have left the next time I'm out, so he needs to be there when I go.

Sounds like you've got a nice build setup, I await your pictures.....

I've done work photography work with 45 or so manufacturers within the firearm community, my images have been used for catalogs, magazines, covers, etc. I have also shot work for the US Military. I am prior service and a full time LEO.

I now also shoot and write for Military Times. My primary focus will stay with weapons, accessories and related equipment reviews. Manufacturers can reach me through any of the boards. Have something new? Let me know.

Stick,

Whatever testing you can do is much appreciated.
I'm not looking for an exhaustive test or anything.
If it will function with a couple mags of both supersonic and sub sonic, I will be a happy camper.

Now if Noveske would be able to have their barrels ready in the next six weeks I would be ecstatic.
It is looking like that will be my biggest hold up for this build.
I'll mock it up without the barrel and post some pics though.
(The barrel won't be visible in this configuration anyway...) :P

Here is a preview of my build.

Still waiting on Noveske for a barrel...
This is a pretty good mockup though.
I have to credit Zak Smith for the inspiration to use the PRI Tube with a 30P-1 can recessed into it.

His 300 Fireball build sparked my imagination and caused me to go with the Mk12 Mod0-ish config.
It was a natural fit since I already run an A.R.M.S. SIR system on my other upper.

Any luck using the LMT E-BCG?

Stick,

Did you ever get the chance to try this out?

Thanks!

Since the ammo faucet has opened up, have you had a chance to try this out Stick?

I don't think his ammo will reach him before tomorrow. He is on the left coast and I just got mine yesterday.
