Not at all.

R & D worked very hard to make this a package that would work in an auto loader (AR). A lot of 300 whisper ammo is for bolt guns only (Thompson guns too)

300 AAC BLACKOUT is a version of the 300 Fireball wildcat. But remember, there was no real standard. The goal in this was to establish a standard, and then let it loose so anyone could make compatible guns and ammo. I see the focus on supersonic ammo - not the subsonic / silencer niche market. 300 Fireball and Whisper(R) were always under appreciated for their supersonic capabilities that JD Jones pioneered. By selling reasonably priced supersonic ammo, this will take off. 30 cal AK power ammo the AR, in a 5.56mm sized rifle.

This is why I like this. About time. looking at the charts, this is a perfect SBR cartridge. Beats the 6.8 for a short barrel, and trumps the 5.56 all around.
