Why are firearms with the "Colt" name so expensive?
I have two Colt family hand-me-downs and don't want to sell but was considering one of the new Colt .357s. What the heck? There has to be a reason other than the name why anything with the Colt name on it is 3-5 times what a similar Ruger or Smith costs.
Previously known as hardcase. Moved lost internet connection for 1+ years.

A lot of it is a carry over from the romanticism of the Old West. Some is just brand recognition. Colt has produce some excellent firearms over the years, but they still maintain the reputation of the world's largest manufacturer of unfinished firearms.

Why are Nike air jordans so expensive. All in the name.
Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

The new Colt Python is a shadow of the custom shop hand fitted pistol of the 70's. Still, as much as people place value on the Colt and Python brand, the SW 19 from the era will out shoot them IMO. I've had a few Colts, sold an Anaconda last year, fairly rare one - 4 inch in 45 colt. I'll keep my 19 for now. It will bring a grand to the right guy. Colt = nostalgia = inflated prices.
You can't beat the mountain, pilgrim. Mountains got its own way.

Vintage Colt revolvers and machine guns. Better than the stock market.
