Neck size bushing

Post by davidm5803 »

I am currently using a .327 neck size bushing in my L.E. Wilson neck sizer die. Thinking it may be a smidge tight. Anyone else use the same setup with a larger bushing? If so, any issues?

.308" + .011"(2) = .330"

Depending on your brass you're sitting right there at that .003" neck tension mark a lot of people shoot for. I personally don't use bushing dies on my blackout ammo but trying a .328 bushing won't hurt anything to try.

I find it more accurate to measure the neck on a loaded round, then subtract the amount of interference I want. Unless you use a tubing mic you can’t get an accurate thickness.

For a .327 bushing I would expect a loaded round to measure more than .330”, preferably a bit less. Generally you can turn a bushing Over and get a little more interference, so with a .330” I probably would have started with a .328”

It really is Trial and error
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
