Let's just say that squirrels and feral **** don't know what hit 'em. I shot at one and missed-40+ yards-and had plenty of time for the second shot, which connected. I would like to have a barrel for my Encore in 300 BLK, but $500 for an MGM is in the future as the "gun budget" has been taken up with AR parts for future builds.

For steel and paper I would choose the 700 with the heavier barrel. I had a RARR - hard to beat for hunting with rotary mag.

Remington still has the model 7 and they have the 783 chambered in 300 blk.

Howa now offers their 1500 mini action in 300 blk. The barreled action can be had from Brownells, but you can find the entire rifle online cheaper.

On a side note, the Howa mini is now offered in 450 bm.

To update. I ended up purchasing a pork sword kit and a virgin R700 action. Parts should all be here mid July
