Guy needs to turn the serial #'s into the national stolen gun database. It's about the only chance of ever getting them back.

The database works. I had a pistol stolen from my truck, went home and called to report it, and it was recovered in a week.

The cops turn in all of that information when you report it stolen. You don't have access to the database.

I didn't imply that anyone outside LEO had access to the database. Even gun dealers don't have access to the database.

I was just encouraging anyone to report them stolen and to ask the local police to add the serial numbers in case the police ever run it, they're supposed to return it to the owner that reported it stolen.

At least after any court proceedings are over.

hotgunz is a website that average folks can use, but it's not official and dependent on whoever inputs the serial number of a stolen gun.
