So far it looks like it will be reasonably easy to load and perform well. Not sure what kind of speeds will be possible in an 8" barrel but probably 1900+. That would give you around 100 yards with near 1000 pounds energy.

It jams around 2.290", so mag length works out really good for Bolt and single shots. That only has about .150" in the case neck so might want to load it shorter for an AR.

Wound channel at around 1650 FPS. Bullets recovered weighed in the high 148's and it's supposed to be barrier blind.

For what it's worth, the faint track to the right was a Nosler 220 round nose at 930fps. It penciled through 32" of gel.

Just wondered if any of have loaded any 230gr cast bullets with any fast powders like red dot or similar,
I’m waiting for my RARR to turn up that I’ve ordered, as my one range has muzzle energy restrictions of 475 foot pounds the joys of living England and tough gun controls. But better to shoot than not to shoot at all.
I want to run them at 900 to 1000 FPS any loading info for lead bullets different weights would be appreciated for I cast a lot for my marlin 30/30 so got lots of 308 molds.
There seems to be plenty data for jacketed but not lead.

My goal - 2150 fps
1/2 minute accuracy- which dellet has done at 200.
If I can get 2200 in a 16" so much the better

It will probably work well in the .30-30 too. About the same velocities in the .30-30 as in the 300 BLK (+/- 100-200 f/s depending upon powder) using a 20" barrel in the .30-30. The fastest .30-30 load I found in Load Data was with H-335. It was 2408 f/s, and it was one of two that broke 2400 f/s. The rest were in the 1800-2250 range. Fastest with the 150 gr. for the 300 BLK was 2048 f/s using A1680, with most ranging in the mid to high 1800 f/s, mid 1900 f/s range. Since this bullet was designed specifically for the 300 BLK it should work well in both. Midway has them, and I have a couple of boxes inbound.

The only possible issue in a 30-30 would be a tube fed magazine, but anything else like a contender pistol, it would be wonderful.

I think there are a couple other published loads out there over 2100 for 150's. The Speer data for this bullet has it for sure.

With a bit of fooling around and careful loading 2200 is certainly possible in a 16". If you go to a 24" barrel for a head to head comparison 2400 is not out of the question. 1900 in a 9" barrel is no problem.

The target I posted above was maxed out for testing purposes, 2175 fps in a 12" barrel.

Winchester/Marlin lever guns could be used as a "double" gun of sorts, with one in the chamber and one in the magazine with no ill effects, as well as rotary magazine Savage 99's in .30-30 or 300 Savage. Single shots like Contenders, Encores, or Handi-Rifles with .30-30 barrels could also be used. Savage 340's in .30-30 too. Reduced recoil loads in .308/.30-06 rifles would also benefit. This sounds like a great bullet for all these applications. Bravo Speer.
