Well, the “stars aligned” and I got a Midway notification last night that the 150 grain Gol Dot BLK were in stock. Then, a free shipping notice today!

So, after tending animals, Saturday morning chores and a couple items on a too long honey do list, I finally sat down at 1:00PM with a huge cup of coffee and my phone with a Gold Dot order all queued up... except the order was short of the $100 min.

Only four boxes of the 150 Gold Dots left!!! I had to slam some factory 300BLK into the cart and quickly press the order button.

Four is better than none.

Yeah, chuck the lil' gun. Lay your hands on some 1680, it compresses and shoots well. Not dirty at all supersonic.

My Speer Number 15 shows this 308150BLKGDB Gold Dot 150 with Accurate 1680;

Starting Charge - 20.5
Maximum Charge - 22.0C

Am I missing something on these loads?

I think I did two loads starting at 20.5 grains.

While not a pure apples to apples comparison, Accurate Powder lists this:

Accurate 1680

Bullet Weight Bullet Starting Load Starting Vel. Max Load Max Vet. Max Pressure (PSI) COL (inches
150 Sierra HPBT MK 17.8 gr 1862 FPS 19.8 gr 2,073 FPS 54,951 PSI 2.150
150 Sierra FMJBT GK 17.8 gr 1848 FPS 19.9 gr 2,053 FPS 54,993 PSI 2.140

All are compressed loads at max apparently

Squeeze it. Shoots good that way.

Is there a question there?

If you used Speer’s data and had a problem or had pressure signs it might be worth a question or two. If you mixed and matched data, start with Speer and carry on.

Suprised there's not more interest with these. Hats off to Speer.
Plan on using them this November.

Anyhow.... I loaded them with 1680, win 223 brass, wolf SRM primers.
Hand weighed every load and used a 12" drop tube.

Rifle is a 700 AAC, HS 40x stock, 24x leupold.
Not sure why the first shot read much higher than the rest. Chrono f'ed up??
The SD would have been in the low singles for all loads.

Didn't matter it still put them in the same hole. 100yd 5 shots
The top groups are 125 tnt's. 1" squares for reference.

No pressure signs. Will try 22.5 @ 2.200 and 23 @2.220.....should be able to get 2100 fps.
