Actually Rebel was talking about firearms on site, not in the bound book. That has nothing to do with a 4473. [/quote]
The part I responded to was about 4473:
"They go over all your 4473's looking for mistakes. If found, they assess and give the appropriate fine."
What about a home based FFL?

What is the "bound book"?
Re: What about a home based FFL?
It's the FFL's record book. ANY and every gun that comes in the shop has to be recorded in the book.
The crime is not shooting poorly, the crime is not learning to shoot better.
Re: What about a home based FFL?
And every gun that goes out. So this is actually called your A&D book. Acquisition/Disposition. Information is recorded on who you got it from and who it left with. Firearms that are exceptions are labeled as Store Protection and a provided sheet that is posted listing those firearms makes and serial#. If you are genuinely considering this hardcase, I'd be glad to help. After all we are not that far from each other.
PM me and we can talk, exchange addresses and I can mail some info to you.

Re: What about a home based FFL?
we have been audited several times..
usually require 2 logs- "gunsmithing" and "for sale or transfer"
YES, ATF will go thru every 4473 (if they think it's necessary)
worst is small mistakes:
customer signs and puts last year on 4473...
model # is not identical in book and on 4473..
and other such things that "should" never happen anyway-
no fines, but did end up closed for business once for about 4 hours for a 100% accountability of firearms on hand (per our log)
and personal firearms on person or within reach have always been "okay" - not needing to be listed in shop log
example: 12 gauge, or CC handgun
But we have only been in business since 1988
hope that helps,
Chris
