2018 shooting challenge

Post by rebel »

Alright guys, 2018 is here. Winter is here in spades for some of us. Good time to craft great load work ups in our caves 8)
In an effort to get some folks shooting and in the Spirit of steven's great sub challenge I will propose this challenge.
Let's shoot a dime at 100 yards. Now if you think that it easy, you don't shoot enough. 15 degrees and humidity can change your zero considerably when your target is a dime. Many of you will post here and I will never see a target, if you don't have time that's cool, but don't post if you ain't gonna do it. Making good fun of folks is acceptable though even if you can't post a target - just prepare for the "where is yours" rebuttal.
Proposed rules ( and as usual, suggestions are considered and weighed in on )
Sighters - as many as needed but would like to see at least 2 on the same target as the dime.
A picture of gun's eye view to the target.
Must hit and recover the dime with one shot on it.
Open class - whatever you want to use - optional for bragging rights
300 Blackout class - mandatory for the big prize
Guy that centers the dime best will get the big prize ( I bought a new one guys as the old one got a bit funky  )
Shootoff will be determined later
What say ye? Anyone up for this?
Time limit will be determined later but let's be generous and hope we all can get rounds downrange by mid March.
Attaching the dime to the target will be tough so share what works for a good recovery.

Anything you want to do on either open or 300 class.
Remember only one shot on dime. Sighter requirement. 2 classes. Only 300 BLK class wins the big prize.

Gotta see if I can't dig up an old hot glue gun out of a closet. I'm thinking that's going to be my dime securing of choice. As cold as it's gonna be this week, this could get interesting.

How many submissions are we allowed rebel?

You can show your your progress, explain your process or problems. If it were me,once I got everything close I'd throw 50 cents worth up and shoot sighters and dimes, chose the most centered. I'd say one per rifle but we have been fairly lenient in the past, so whatever.
Just state that is an official submission.

Sounds like a fun challenge, I have a load/rifle combo capable to do this....but.... It was -11 this morning, storm that dumped about a foot of snow that took 2.5 days to get cleaned up here at home and our rental. Several test loads are ready for better weather. You folks down South let me know how it goes in your balmy climate

Yeah, the high here today was 26. Winds at around 20 mph. Balmy.
Just shoot when you can, that is why I said mid March. Let's just shoot fella's. When we can and pass some knowledge on to some of the new folks.
Steven, you can attach said dime however you want. If attachment works good, share with others.
