Try a Google search and you will find many videos on the cutoff/conversion. Basically it is cut, deburr, size, trim. The easiest way to get brass now is to go to the Vendor section and purchase what you want. There are probably 5 people to buy from and you save all the hassle.

We sell a jig that mounts in a cheap saw to help you cut your own brass.

BUT buy the preformed brass from a vendor. Shoot your gun. Have fun!

THEN if you want to try your hand at making your own brass get a jig and do it.

I have ordered brass from almost all the vendors and have yet to be unhappy with the quality.

I agree about buying your brass. for the amount of work involved it is better just to buy it. I made my first 1000 300 BLK cases myself. its nice to know how incase of a SHTF situation but unless you have a LOT o time on your hands, just buy some and enjoy shooting! the mini chop saw & jig that I bought to cut brass got ruined by Hurricane Irma. I have no intentions of buying another.

Basically a 223 is chopped at the shoulder, run thru a resizing die and trimmed to the proper length. The sizing die forms the proper shoulder and bells the case mouth to 30cal.

Super easy, but time consuming. I agree with the above posts....just buy ready made brass and enjoy shooting.

first off read this post

viewtopic.php?f=141&t=88599

some brass doesnt convert well, others amazingly well.

2nd - heres a video from one of our members with a basic how to do it.

that should be enough to give you an idea on what it takes to convert stuff. by no means is this the only way to do it, but he covers the important stuff.

Is there a difference in case capacity between a reworked .223 and an actual 300BO case?
