Well, I tried. Had a bunch of really good 4 shot groups today but couldn't quite close the deal on the 5 shot groups. This was my best of the day.

RARR shot off of bags, my favorite varmageddon load, mid 50's with a 6mph wind.

Thought I would give it another go this weekend. I have a load I have been waiting to put the finishing touches on since the summer and weather has not cooperated this winter.

Get set up, targets hung late Sunday afternoon with no one else at the club. I have another rifle to shoot, so lay things out on a couple of benches, using a rifle with a X24 as a spotter.

All nestled in to shoot the best groups of my life and kick some serious butt in Rebel's challenge. It was then that I realized that I left my rear bag at home.

300 Blackout, bolt action. Shot off bipod with no rear support

The great thing about having a small competition like this is that I probably would not have bothered to get out and shoot without it. Just a little motivation.

Load data.

1.200", 1.716", 1.712 CTBO
21.5 grn 168o
Rem 7 1/2 primer
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

Where are all you clowns postings for this?
Been too busy to do any shooting other than at work. Hell, I haven't touched my press since October.

So got the invite to shoot at the range the groundhog shoot is held on. I shot with the range owner and a Champion shooter who is fairly well known in rimfire precision circles. This range is TOUGH. Wind dynamics look to turn your group into a shambled mess at 300 and 500 yards. I managed to hit the groundhog target 4 times with two different 3 shot groups. Mirage made the damn thing look 4 foot tall and leaning. There is a river to the right of the range and even in dead calm, your group will be right unless you dope 2-3 clicks left at 3 and maybe one click at 500 as the river is closest to the 300. I left at least having some sort of dope for that range at distance.

I saw the Champion's exploratory group at 500. His 6 BR printed 5 shots in an 1 1/4 inches  It was off target so he looked at me and said "You whooped me." I looked at my shot string spread in a 4" horizontal, even with 2 shots in the black and called BS. With a simple dope on the scope he would have shamed me.

After I left I noticed cloud cover moving in, I still had some ammo and hadn't fired the ppc so I stopped by my range. Fired two 5 shot groups at 100 yards trying to beat my other group. Wind didn't allow that but I shot a couple of decent groups despite that at 300 yards.
Doesn't count for sh%$ on the contest but I thought I would share.

6 shots, 300 yards, 260 AI
( left off a zero - that should be 300 )

5 shots 6 PPC. Damn wind got me on the 5th shot - high right.

Pretty solid shooting there Rebel. One of these days I'm gonna have to swing through your part of the state and check out your shop/range. These dang contests are gonna wind up costing me some money though chasing precision
