Except if you try to take it to the range and it picks up the shots from the entire firing line. Imagine trying to sort through that data.

So what if you set the chrony sideways. Your left and right should always be pretty close, it's the up and down that is the issue. Sure, you could hit the metal rod, but that's probably cheaper than what's pictured. Switch to a plastic rod and it won't damage much.
