Re: Couple Q's on repeat-ability and desired tolerances...

Uniform and deburr the flash holes. That is one thing I still do to every case. Doing it made the single biggest difference when I used to shoot groups. Case fill is also very important because powder position can impact velocity. I tested loads by first loading then pointing the muzzle at the groun...

Re: 266 grain cast bullet, the Dolomite special

Sounds like I may be done with these then. It already takes nearly 2 hours for 50 rounds, and thats without adding another handful of steps. I don't have that kind of time. The only additional step should be belling the case mouth. Everything else is just a matter of adjusting the die to remove the...

Re: 266 grain cast bullet, the Dolomite special

Are you belling the case mouth before seating? These, like all cast bullets, need a bell on the case mouth. If not the coating, and diameter, can be removed causing stability issues. If you have IMR 4227 I would try 10 grains then go up or down from there. I would start with the overall length you a...

Re: 266 grain cast bullet, the Dolomite special

My sweet wooden crate of 100 came in last night. Will see about preppong some brass tonight but I have a weekend getaway coming up I still haven't even begun to pack for...so that takes precedence. I like that they're noticeably shorter than 208 ELD, as that indicates they may stabilize out of my 6...

Re: Whats your accent?

I have used most of them but never heard of Si-goggling. I grew up on the side of a mountain and will die within 500 feet of where I grew up. I know every square inch of this mountain as I walked it as a kid while playing and hunting. I was probably 7 when I first started hunting for food. I would g...

With an adjustable gas block you can use lightweight parts. No need to run a heavy buffer. Use the adjustable gas block to tune the cycling instead of the buffer.
