Re: Custom Savage .300blk Build

Where did you buy the barrel for your Axis? Did you have to get headspace gauges? I bought the 16.5" Sporter Contour barrel from BFG http://bfgcartridges.com/ . I read on this forum that you must use a sporter contour 300 blackout barrel with the Savage Axis. Yes, I also I ordered the PTG Go g...

Re: Custom Savage .300blk Build

I bought a new Savage Axis .223 and slapped a 300 blackout barrel on it. I have had no issues with the ejection. I have shot less than 10 rounds through it with no ejection issues so I may be speaking too early, but all looks good so far. The ejector on this new Savage Axis is almost even with the e...

Re: 300 AAC Blackout Realoading kit

The following is from the other thread that I referenced earlier and all tools/items were ordered through www.midwayusa.com so feel free to search for them by name on Midway's site: I found the tools/items below to be very very helpful with the exception of the last one listed, but that is because I...

Re: 300 AAC Blackout Realoading kit

This thread has been very helpful for myself and other reloading n00bs for figuring out how to get started and what you need to buy for your reloading needs. http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=79003&start=20 A single stage press may be a good place for you to start but it ...

Re: New to reloading. where to start?

I recently posted a question similar to your original one and was referred to your post....awesome info for a newbie! Thanks for sharing and thanks to all who contributed a wealth of knowledge to my thread and yours as well. The portability of your setup is awesome, too. I am limited on space and d...

Re: Supressed hunting???

+1 for behind the ear. In my opinion it is the best way to hunt hogs. You elminate the need to get any fancy bullet expansion or fool around with loading a certain bullet weight for hunting hogs. Whether its a 110 grain bullet or a 245 grain bullet, putting it behind the ear at any reasonable distan...

Re: New to reloading just because of the 300 BLK

Another member on the forum started a thread just like this one, you can find it here http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=79003 . From the posts it seems that the guy went from n00b, to identifying and buying the right equipment for himself, to successfully reloading for the 30...

Re: Good deer bullet

I stand corrected. My apologies to everyone for putting such inaccurate info out in the world. I'm going to edit out that content so that it isn't around to wreck someone's day. Thanks for the correction and once again it is a reminder of why following published load data is important :)

Re: Good deer bullet

I spoke to the tech services rep at Barnes bullets about the 130 grain TTSX. With the un-availability of the 110 grain blacktip the 130 TTSX seemed like the next best choice. He advised against using the 130 TTSX for the 300 Blackout. From our conversation the minimum expansion velocity is 2000 FPS...

Re: Good deer bullet

I think it should be. Someone asked almost the exact same question you did here http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=80799 You will find a link to a youtube video of someone doing reviews of the bullet. There are actually like 3-4 videos on this bullet from the same person inclu...
