Re: who has decent priced 220 grain bullets
You will find that 200gr bullets are cheaper and easier to find. The heavy SMKs are pricey to say he least and the heavier bullets offer no benefits to justify their price.

Re: Should subsonic rounds lock the bolt back?
WRONG. I use only 200gr bullets and have no issues achieving lockback. I also have 150gr subsonics that lock the BCG back.700PSS wrote:Even 210gr is marginal. 220gr is the recommended minimum weight for assured reliability for subsonic loads to lock back.

Re: Best Suppressor coating
I have used both Gunkote and Ceracoat. Both are good. Gunkote is easier to use. It Ceracoat is supremely tough and they have high heat versions.

Re: Dumb to ditch my 223 SBR?
The AR rifle being modular it makes sense to have multiple uppers for a single lower do there is no reason you can't keep the 223 upper and add a 300 Whisper upper to your collection. The only downside to running a 300 over the 223 is most people will run a brass catcher cause they don't want to lea...

Re: Factory subsonic not sounding very subsonic.?
The problem is I don't want to put an 8-10" can on a 7" barreled carbine. I'm trying to get the sound reduction using a 5-6" long can and it is a bit more difficult than I thought it would be.

Re: Factory subsonic not sounding very subsonic.?
I am finding the 300 to be more difficult to suppress than I had expected. The combination of short barrel and the requirement for slower powders suitable for semi auto cycling tend to work against suppression. Bolt guns will be completely different as then a much quicker powder can be used. The vel...

Re: heaviest bullet for 1 in 10 twist?
Bullet weight is not as important as bullet length and shape which will determine how well it is balanced about its center of gravity. That is why the 200gr Lapua is stable where a lighter bullet may not be. I have shot 168's in a 1:10 that wouldn't stabilize no matter what I tried. You will also di...

Re: heaviest bullet for 1 in 10 twist?
The Lapua 200gr subsonic will even work in a 1:12 twist. It all comes down to how the bullet is balanced around its centre of gravity.

Re: Anyone doing else an integral suppressor bolt gun yet?
Picked up my donor rifle today. It is a Rem 700 SPS Varmint in 17 Fireball. With this rifle I now have all the parts for my integral build. The barrel is a 1:8 McGowa, the can will be a steel Monocore and I have a piece of 30 mm carbon fibre tube for the outer tube just because I can.

Re: A Potential Source for Cheap 300BLK Bullets?
Pulled 150gr mil bullets are an excellent choice. You can also use cheapo .311 bullets in a 308 bore. They just swage down a couple extra thou with no drama.
