Re: Cycling issues with subsonic load
Opening the port should be a last resort. What's your load? Do you know the velocity? 1680 is pretty forgiving, but of course a light load would affect cycling. Have you tried factory subs, particularly the Remington UMC? If those don't cycle, it's definitely a gun issue, not an ammo issue. Buffer w...

Re: I bought a 6.8SPC
There are definite performance gains, especially if you're shooting out to 200. For only one example, 125 SST in the blackout @ 2100 fps vs. a 120 SST in the 6.8 at 2400 fps. Higher BC + faster means the 6.8 will have more energy at 200 than the 300 BLK does at 100. Personally, I wouldn't shoot hogs...

Re: Expansion of bullets in a Subsonic cartridge.
The gold dot 300blk expands @ 1400 fps. Not much that will do better. Why expansion for javalina? Just poke 2 holes in them. Two holes? And risk destroying all that delicious meat? 30 caliber expansion at subsonic velocities is tough. Even the Hornady 190 Sub-X, specifically made for subsonic...

Re: Advice on gas block for 16" barrel with pistol gas system
Welcome. Sounds like you answered your own question. An adjustable gas block would be a PITA. Very quickly, two options are: 1. Set up the adjustable block in a compromise position that will cycle both suppressed subs and supers. That will at least reduce the excess gas and is only a PITA once. 2. D...

Re: Lee 309-170F: Possible for 300BO?
I've put them on about 370f for about 15 minutes. Earlier, when I went for 20 I managed to warp and melt them, but one bad batch in my first time was not so bad. If you're melting lead at 370 then your oven is way off. Might want to get a thermometer to calibrate it so you can bake at the proper ti...

Re: coal method question
ive heard to load to max coal that will fit in your mag That is NOT a good idea. Especially with a 300 BLK where bullets may not be designed for the cartridge. Plenty of .308 bullets will jam at less than mag length. You have three options: 1. Buy a gauge so you know what length is correct for YOUR...

Re: Most accurate coated lead subsonic bullet you’ve seen
I’m going to load 250-500 subs for my RARR, and I want to go for accuracy. ... subs have been good enough as a general rule, maybe +/- 1” or so at 50 yds, but I want to shoot for better. If your goal is <1"at 50 yards with reasonable effort, you should find a lead bullet that's coated with a c...

Re: Interesting results Loading supers and subs with imr 4227
On the supers, 1850 seems a bit slow but within reason. It's not uncommon to see speed variations of 200 fps from what you'd expect by looking at a manual. Different barrel, brass, powder, primer, yada yada yada. When I've checked, my suppressor added about 30 fps to a super load. Yours will be diff...

Re: Speer 130 Varmint #2005 FTW
Good to hear your daughter got her deer and you a pig with the 130gn Speer. I shot a good doe on the 16th with a 150gn GD pushed along with some Socom powder at about 90 yards. Hit just in front of the shoulder and exited behind the off shoulder. I found her about 10 yards from where the shot was m...
