Re: Who makes a good light 300 blk boolite for semi -auto?
What molds did you get and why are they too short for AR? I use a 142gr cast rnfp, works fine. Any slick sided should work seated long, about half of the neck length. Doubt the soup can would work, probably get miss-aligned by the feed ramp.

Re: Explanation for higher than expected velocity
Look for excess expansion at the case web. Compare unfired to fired. My Lee sizer die doesn't do anything to the base of fired, just neck and pushes shoulder back a tad. I've got MG fired 308 that has expanded web and the first time sizing shrinks the web. Anything over a couple thous. indicates hig...

Re: Explanation for higher than expected velocity
125gr load is close to 100% fill, H110 gets funny there. Unless you are loading very long, you probably found the max load for your components. Primer is a very poor way of detecting over pressure. Measure dia at case head. I made a mistake and loaded 19gr H110, case looked like a belted one. Pistol...

plink steel at 200+ yards, hunt deer/pigs here in Florida
for that I would go with a regular carbine AR in BO (1:10 twist) or Hamr. Not much increase in weight and much easier to shoot fast. And if you want thermal, much more stable platform. With the longer rail, clip on thermal is easier.

I've got a 169gr GC slick sided mold used for my AR10, should work ok in the BO, about 1800 fps with 1680 or 4227.

125gr SST is good for big hogs from the BO, don't know about bears though. 2100 fps. 2 legged creatures I'd like 180gr at 1700 fps. Light bullets for pests.

Re: Expansion of bullets in a Subsonic cartridge.
The gold dot 300blk expands @ 1400 fps. Not much that will do better. Why expansion for javalina? Just poke 2 holes in them.

10" AR pistol for hogs. Gets good fps and repeat shots. SBR it if you want a stock. Accurate without excessive weight.

powder that needs to be compressed, Or nearly. 2400 is pretty much the same, needs temp and pressure to burn right which means a high fill portion.

Re: Lee 309-170F: Possible for 300BO?
I use a 170Pb & 185GC coated cast in my BO AR, feed fine and have a much larger meplat than the LEE. I do use Lancer BO mags as the magpul 223 will hang once in a while. Mold design is my modified ranch dog for 30/30.
