Re: Important Primer question concerning suppressors

Lots to think about. I hadn't really given much consideration to the hotter primers doing better at igniting the powder charge and burning it up easier/faster. So, that's a viewpoint that I hadn't given much thought to. I've been loading up some of the 9x39 subsonic expanding bullets and even at the...

Re: Important Primer question concerning suppressors

Thanks buddy. I was doing the strictly unscientific method of popping a primer with no powder or bullet in it. Simply just lighting them off while chambered in the gun and listening to how they sound. The wolf primer was a lot more quiet than the Winchester. And I did mention that the primer was sti...

Important Primer question concerning suppressors

I was wanting to ask you guys a question. I have always known that some primers are hotter than others. But I was wondering something. Recently, I was testing trying to find out what component was causing the corrosion on my barrel. In doing do, I was pulling some bullets and simply firing the prime...

Re: Finally, the perfect (compromise) 300 BLK AR

I really enjoy discussions such as they and you're spot on with your assessment about barrel length and suppressor noise. Longer barrels allow more time for powder burn and the gas cool down more compared to shorter barrels. Thus allowing the suppressor to be more efficient. The drawback with longer...

Re: Stolen NFA items

at least you are getting your gun back. the last pistol I had stolen, (a CZ 85) was supposed to be returned to me but was taken out of the evidence room by BATF. the detective I spoke to didn't know why. I assume it was one of the guns sent to Mexico during the "fast & furious" fiasco...

Re: Anyone loading for 9x39 yet?

I'll be honest buddy, there are still a lot of those guns that get pulled out of the closet every deer season in these parts. Their mindset is basically wanting to use the same thing great grandpa used to put food on the table. And let's face it, that's about as big of a compliment as one could give...

Re: Anyone loading for 9x39 yet?

I have been able to do some more load testing with these rounds. And I'm just going to be perfectly honest, these things are impressing the heck out of me. It was pretty windy yesterday evening. Some pretty good gusts coming through before the rain and cold front blew in. I was half expecting the gr...

Re: Stolen NFA items

Stolen property is generally not returned until after the court proceedings. Until then, it isn't your property and is state evidence.

Re: Anyone loading for 9x39 yet?

Had some time to do some load testing yesterday.

So far, so good. Am going to start bumping up the charges some more this evening tweaking them a little better.
