Re: 4 Reasons 300 Blackout Is a Terrible Choice for Home Defense

In my opinion the only thing that prevents 300 BLK from being an outstanding HD option is the price of factory HD ammo to load magazines up ahead of time. I load my own ammunition for 300 BLK and in any non-SHTF situation I would never, ever use that ammunition for self defense. Too many cases of ov...

Yes, my plan is for a 3 or 4 lb velocity trigger. I just got one of their triggers this week and it is pretty incredible for $120.

Re: Need advice on 2nd 300BLK SBR Build

Hey guys thanks for all of the input so far. My main reason for leaning towards M4E is that even though I've assembled a bunch of stripped lowers before this will be my first upper assembly and I'm nervous about messing something up using shims, lining up gas tube, getting proper torque on barrel, e...

Need advice on 2nd 300BLK SBR Build

Hey guys, I've gotten the bug to build a 2nd 300 BLK SBR. This SBR will become my primary SBR and my original build based on an AAC 9" upper will become my secondary gun (primarily because I kind of hate the billet lower I used in that build). One impetus for this is that I think that we will s...

Re: Rig Mounted Y Sling. Thoughts?

I'll throw my .02 into the ring as well. This sling looks like a solution in search of a problem. I'm personally not a big fan of single point slings. I find that they have a lot of limitations compared to two point slings and all of the instructors I've had have actually made a point of showing dif...

Re: Can't justify 300 BO

If all you want to do is plink targets then it's hard to see why you wouldn't just stick with 5.56 or even 7.62x39 since the ammo is cheap. I view my 300 BLK setup as my SHTF rifle. It has way more muzzle energy and probably stopping power than a 5.56 cartridge, has all of the ergos of an M4 and I c...

Re: Is AAC no longer making the 9" upper?

I asked a similar question a few months ago as I am in the market for a 2nd 9" AAC Upper. I was similarly told that they have moved to a new facility and needed to re-start production as they have been out of stock on the 9" upper for quite a while now. What I know for sure is that the fir...

Re: Drop in Triggers

I would also recommend a good single stage trigger with about 3.5-4.5 lb of trigger pull for a 300BLK carbine. I put a 2 stage Giessele in mine and the 2 stage is more suited to shooting on the bench than shooting and moving in my opinion. Plenty disagree with me as lots of guys run the 2 stage trig...

Re: 300 Blackout Subsonic accuracy a joke???

I think people have to be realistic in comparing accuracy when shooting paper targets to accuracy needed for combat effectiveness which for any combat oriented cartridge is the true benchmark for accuracy. 6 MOA at 100 yards would be considered operationally effective by the military community who w...

Re: AAC 9" upper - new generation coming soon?

Yeah I am looking to buy a 2nd 9" AAC Upper as I've been pretty happy with mine (although lately I've been having a FTF on 1st round with a certain type of magazine and haven't had time to troubleshoot it). As long as production will resume I will sit tight. It would be nice if they upgraded th...
