Re: 8in with Surefire 7.62 mini

You will need a larger gas port or lighter buffer with the mini silencer.

This. You need a shorter gas system or ammo that makes more pressure as the gas port.

Re: New guy..A few Questions

The larger bore size and small charge of faster burning powder of the 300 BLK means there is less pressure at the gas port that there would be for a 5.56. There is not enough pressure at mid length to cycle the action, so the larger bore on 300 BLK is doing the same thing the longer gas system does ...

Dolomite_Supafly wrote:Everything was correct except his gun would not cycle any subs, including the factory recipe in the AAC website. It was well lubed and cycled supers perfectly.
There is some mechanical problem that is causing just enough drag or gas loss to make subs not function.

Re: Short cycling problems

...as long as it does not obstruct the gas due to its internal design. Or leak gas... But there is really no benefit on a 16" carbine gas. Check gas block to port alignment. Most gas blocks have the wrong gas port offset, they need to be spaced of the shoulder of the barrel like there is a han...

Re: Fully suppressed/moderated barrels

There is no reason to think that with a subsonic round like this it wouldn't be the perfect match for an SBR home defense weapon. Gel testing links? Expansion through clothing? Max penetration? Factor in increased follow up shot speed due to lower recoil and transfer of kinetic energy from a heavie...

Re: Fully suppressed/moderated barrels

I could not feel a difference of blast between the 8 to 10 inch.

While I expect to eventually see an expanding subsonic it's not what I would use for defence. Subsonic to me is just a bunch of fun, I'll stick with the better performing supersonic for everything else.

Re: Fully suppressed/moderated barrels

I will tailor one subsonic load for the weapon. Are you aware of how much terminal performance you loose with subsonic? Penetration is excessive as well. You could just start with an 8" barrel and pick between the shortest or quietest silencer, probably thread on for this application. Integral...

Re: 300 Blkout cycling problem with non 220g subs

Check gas tube alignment/inspect for worn gas tube.
Try a known good carrier.
Stick with 1680.
