Re: My shocked face at Subsonic rounds (unsuppressed)

Welcome to both the forum, and the wonderful world of subsonic.

Got a suppressor yet? If not, it’ll blow your mind when you do!

Re: Berger Elite Hunter Rifle Bullets .30 cal .308" 205 gr HBT

The 205 class of bullets will be subsonic in the blk. Unless they are made for reliable expansion at subsonic they’ll basically behave like FMJs with no expansion. I’d stuff them into your faster 30 cal rifle and go for a more 300blk-friendly bullet. Try the 300blk specific Barnes black tip, or the ...

Re: Best hunting ammo for 16" barrel

Any load with the Barnes 110 or 120 blackout-specific bullet will be wonderful. I’ve used this bullet to good effect many times. If you can find the Barnes loaded ammo, great. If not, look at Black Hills and Gorilla. Gorilla often has ammo available. In fact, they do right now! https://www.gorillaam...

Re: Best barrel length for Deer Hunt under 75yrds?

At your range, almost anything will do. My hunting SBRs use 9 to 12 inch barrels because I use a suppressor on the end and that ends up being a manageable length in the deer stand.

Re: 10.5" vs 16" barrel

Welcome to the forum and to the pleasures of short barrels. This round is fantastic for use in SBRs or AR pistols With the Barnes 110 load you’ll go from about 2400-ish fps to 2200-ish fps. There is a lot of ‘ish’ factor here depending on your particular barrel, atmospheric conditions and such. With...

Re: Deer ammo

bangbangping,

Thanks. I was not aware of the pending factory 150 GD load. I’ll get on notify lists and scoop some up when they come out.

Cheers,

Re: Deer ammo

The 220 grain (and anything close to or over 200 grain) will be subsonic. Basically it will give you handgun-class ballistics with lower energy and parabolic trajectory. There are some great expanding subsonic rounds (I prefer the Hornady 190 gr Sub-X) for specialized use, but I stick to supersonics...

Re: Deer ammo

The 110gr Barnes bullets are my preferred.

Check out Gorilla Ammunition, they seem to have loads with the Barnes bullets in stock most of the time.

Re: AAC 51t adapter issue

Uh, well, thansk for that. I see now there has been a spinoff of their ownership but they are indeed operating in some capacity. Pardon my ignorance but I suppose this is what happens when you go off grid for a while. Will advise. Ecco Machine does suppressor re-baffling and also can change the AAC...
