Re: Hornady 160gr FTX data? Anyone have QuickLoad?
Remington/Barnes, Norma, Lapua 300 stamped brass minimally sized will net the highest case capacity and .010” necks. That might help. 300 MP will have a bit less pressure than H110, but will take a little more powder to get the same velocity. The 1680 will be the most predictable, and you can proba...

Re: Hornady 160gr FTX data? Anyone have QuickLoad?
With CFE and 1680 you can go to 110%. With 1680 I would not bother less than 100 unless it was to just get used to the powder. H110 will be more fun to work with, it has the potential to blow something up. 16 grains will be close to max and be around 95%. Around 19-1950 in a 16” 1680, 17.5-18 grain...

Re: Hornady 160gr FTX data? Anyone have QuickLoad?
I was wrong on my OAL, it is 2.060 not 1.960. The max range I would even think about using these would be 50 yards. That is kitchen window to the place the deer cross at the back of the house, past that they are in the woods at my place. IF and it is a big IF, I can keep them in the working range fo...

Maybe it's been done and you just weren't paying attention  Which bullet, Marlin or Winchester? I worked with the Winchester 30-30 version a couple years ago. It can work short range really well. Impact velocity should be 1700 fps plus for good results. With a MV of 2000 fps that give you ...

I have A1680 too, so you think anyone else has done this and just not told us yet?Mort123 wrote:I have been pondering the same thing except starting out with 300-MP or A1680.

Hornady 160gr FTX data? Anyone have QuickLoad?
I know everyone says not to use them, but I have a box of them, and I haven't shot my 30-30 in years... So I did a mock-up and in my RARR and OAL would have to be 1.960. So, I am thinking that maybe 17gr of CFEBlk would be a place to start and top out probably at 18.5gr. I wish I had QuickLoad to se...

All your chosen powder won't fit in the case? Does your bullet get deformed when seating over compressed loads? Need an extra 100fps over the competition? Try our powder compression die, guaranteed to give you more bang for the buck, or we will give you a free extended adjustment rod to allow even ...

Gold dot, 2170 MV. Approx 90 yards.
Very nice.
Rain rain and more rain here kept me from seeing any during season here.
