Re: Long-ish Distance 300 Blackout Shooting?

600 yards for me. I was able to hit a small circle, but it is not practical.

0-230 yards is "point blank" range for 300 BLK. Meaning, you can shoot out to 230 and not have to even adjust your sights.

Re: Twist rate - why 1:8 still around

I couldn't imagine building an AR with a 1-7" twist barrel to shoot only 110 to 125 grain bullets. Heck, I would rather have a 1-10" or 1-12" twist barrel. Higher rpm helps expanding bullets open more easily, and that is a benefit to 300 BLK where the velocity is not as high as 308. ...

Re: Twist rate - why 1:8 still around

Some vendors are not set up to make 1/7. I wish the SAAMI spec were 1/7, but there is no effort to change it and never will be. SAAMI twist rates are just suggestions, and there is no reason to have to follow it. For example 1/7 is not out of SAAMI spec. SAMMI spec for 223 is not 1/7, but 1/7 is wha...

Re: Bumping shoulder

I would either just put them aside and not use them for home defense, or just test chamber them all in your rifle, which may end up bumping the shoulder.

Re: "Suggested Subsonic Load" from AAC...

There is a most correct OAL. The AAC recommended OAL is based on testing for what is most reliable feeding in an AR15 from a MIL-SPEC magazine. Shorter was less reliable because it would hit the top of the chamber chamfer. Longer was less reliable because it would bind in the magazines. The length i...

Re: Question on suppressor theory

First - there is not a complete power burn in a 10.5, or even 16 inch barrel. I don't doubt that people have said they want 9 or 10.5 for complete powder burn, but they are wrong. But a 7.5 inch would have lower velocity than a 10.5 inch with subsonic, and slower has less bullet flight noise. So it ...

Re: $67 for a 7.5 barrel? What is wrong for it to be on clearance and 40% off?

I would much rather have 1:7 or faster twist for a short barrel and an AAC-brand barrel extension. But if you want low price, it does have that going for it.

Re: 3 year expiration date on primers?

Non-toxic primers for sure do not last forever. Anything that says clean in it should not be for long-term use. I am not sure if the box has an expiration date, but it would be completely reasonable for it to have one for self-defense use. Not that one should use such ammo for self-defense. I wouldn...

Re: In light of BamBam's hissy fit, what EO do you suspect he will impose?

As far as I saw about what he said he thinks he can do, he wants to make it so that if you travel the county and go to gun shows every week without an FFL and set up a table and sells guns and sell hundreds of guns a year, you are a de-facto dealer. Which is pretty much true. So he wants to impose a...
