You may have to open up the gas port to get it to function properly, but I understand that is less troublesome than with even shorter barrels.
(Love the Cooper quote! Had not seen it before, but do love my HK P7s.)

Re: Correct length of gas tube for CMMG pistol position??
I have a 16" Paladin bbl made from Douglas stock with his 3 way pistol position gas block. His tube is shorter and the barrel much, much longer after the port. Works beautifully w subs on the open setting and supers on the low gas flow setting. Has its own lower. Shoots subs to <1 MOA at 100 ya...

Re: Correct length of gas tube for CMMG pistol position??
Found a longer vernier caliper and was able to get a better measurement of the exposed gas tube inside the upper of the 8.5" ... is 0.936". Compares to 0.950" for a different upper. So I don't think that's likely to be the problem. A rough measure of the gas port diameter is 0.096&quo...

Re: Stability and barrel length
I do understand that the machinist I use is very moderate in cost ... but his work is superb. i have 13x40 lathe with a 6 jaw set-true chuck. When I check his work with a Starrett "last word" dial gauge it has never more than quivered. Been thinkin' about it though ... and I really hate to...

Re: Powders for subsonic SBR
My current load for the 220 gr SMK is 8.6 gr of current production 2400, old silver Winchester small rifle primers, OAL=2.190", LC brass. Load for the 225 gr Hornady OTM is 8.4 gr of current production 2400. Other specs the same. Each round is checked in a chambering gauge made with the reamer ...

Powders for subsonic SBR
Guys, I have a pistol gassed 16" with a three way switch block. I happen to like it as am able to run a variety of powders for both supersonic and subsonic applications. Has been very accurate with 2400 and 220 gr SMKs and 225 gr Hornady OTMs with <1" 100 yard groups and SDs less than 20 o...
