Re: Help me choose a powder

Using a bolt action gives you much more flexibility, but as previously stated, variables such as brass (case volume, neck tension, etc.) and projectiles make major differences in 300 BLK. Using very fast pistol powders will give you the quietest performance in a bolt action, but the case fill will h...

Re: Subsonic Defense Ammunition

As DS so eloquently stated, subsonic rounds will penetrate much greater than supersonic ones. If you are set on using a subsonic for self defense, go with the Lehigh Controlled Fracturing. https://media.mwstatic.com/productimages/880x660/Primary/461/461479.jpg A much better choice is a super sonic L...

Re: 300 Blackout Any LEO Using?

There are a bunch of departments in the Greater Cleveland, OH area that use them for culling animals in populated areas. Tim over at the Military Arms Channel just posted a video of a demo he gave to the local PD in his area. They were able to cleanly defeat LVL2 body armor with S&B 200 grain am...

Re: Long-ish Distance 300 Blackout Shooting?

If you have enough elevation or want to just hold real high like Travis Haley did, subsonic 300 BLK have enough energy to get the job done at 1,000 yards. If you want a supersonic load that you can repeatedly make long range hits, then 800 yards is where I draw the line. http://www.300blktalk.com/fo...

Re: TBAC Ultra 7 vs Ultra 9

For subsonic 300 BLK the Ultra 7 is a good choice.
The Ultra 7 has similar db performance to the TBAC 30P-1.

I run a 30P-1 and one of my teammates has an Ultra 7.
When shooting them side by side there is little to no noticeable difference in db performance.

Re: I saw for the first time, an open carry in NC

While I'm not an open carry fan, here are the pros that I can see: - No lisc requirement other than a purchase permit. - Lower liability due to not being formally educated on use of force law. (At least in NC) - The more people that open carry, the more normalized the general public becomes to firea...

Re: I saw for the first time, an open carry in NC

In NE-NC, I see quite a bit of open carry. Mostly at Wal-Mart of all places. Doesn't get much attention though. I'm not a fan of open carry, but I understand the argument for it. A few years ago, I was pulling into Wal-Mart and saw about 6 police cars screaming into the parking lot. Being the nosey ...
