I know that I have been a bit slack lately, but no love for a fellow NC Member? 8)

Re: Magnum Primers?

Not to confuse the issue, but.......... :P Some of my low density, fast powder loads for some of the antiques I shoot, the primer of choice is a standard small pistol primer. They work really well in small cases like 22 hornet as well. Safely experimenting is what makes handloading fun. To add even...

Re: Magnum Primers?

In theory small rifle primers were designed for lower pressure loads up to 40,000 psi. They have a thinner cup than magnum primers. A fair amount of people use them with good results I wouldn’t in hot loads. To elaborate on this, dellet says this due to it masking pressure signs and changing the pr...

Sorry for the delay.
Been sucked into my latest 6.5 Grendel project and getting setup for deer season.
(My 10 year old daughter has some serious "Buck Fever". ;-)

I'll do my best to get the list updated soon.

Re: Primer pocket longevity

dellet wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2019 8:51 amNot uncommon for powders faster than H110 to be in a pressure range as high or higher than supers even with light bullets and primer pockets don’t care about speed only pressure.
AA#9 is a perfect example of this.
Once again, sage advice given by dellet...

Re: Lehigh 194gr ME handload test data question

My personal threshold is 1,050 fps and I'm at sea level. Inside the 900 fps realm is much quieter though. When you are using a $2 bullet, make sure you do it right and get the results your looking for. Your choice in components is good and technique is solid. Experimenting with a slight crimp might ...

Re: Primer pocket longevity

My PNW brass has only been used 3 times and some already went in too easy. PNW and PMC brass have been some of the worse I've come across. I'll mirror dellet when it comes to investing in brass. For subs, brass is much less of a concern due to low pressure. (duh....) High performing supersonic load...
