If used for house SD, shorter barrel is fine, personally I prefer a real pistol. You can shoot SLOW supers very easy. If for ranch SD, go with the carbine and supers. Try for 1:9 or 1"10 twist.

My McGown 18" barrel is 1:10 and shoots great. Even did a cast 145gr PB to 2100 fps with accuracy.

Got a box of them left, shot some with H110, didn't think accuracy was that great ~ 1900 fps from 1:10 carbine. Haven't tested on animals yet.

That Vmax load is pretty hot. And HS is too great - primer pops out. May need to lightly jam the lands to get primer to fire when fire forming to push out the shoulder.

I put a linear comp on mine, hides the flash well (yup, shot at some hogs at night and not blinded), not much recoil with 110 vmax and full load of H110. Big trick is handling the recoil.
