Re: How far can you shoot subs?

I use the most magnification I can keep steady. I know guys using 30X and more at 50 yards for Rimfire. If I do that the crosshairs dance around like I have Parkinson’s. I shoot a fair amount off hand out to 200 yards and 12X is about max that I’m comfortable with. 6-8X works out much better. Might ...

Re: Vectan A0 Subsonic Cycling Issues

If the gas block and tube diameter is .125”, and the port is .110”, the port in the barrel is a restriction. Opening the port will help. The muzzle pressure is very low, probably too low to work without either less spring pressure, or weight in the buffer and bolt carrier. You might take the buffer ...

Re: Vectan A0 Subsonic Cycling Issues

I am sorry, I confused two powders AO,and AS. I never tried AO fo subsonic, no data. The data I have is in the thread linked below. Since the Vectan/Noble sport powders are rare here, I use 300 Whisper data. It is close enough for a start. http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=11...

Re: Vectan A0 Subsonic Cycling Issues

More information needed. Did you measure the size of the port in the barrel? it would be helpful to know. Length of the gas system, pistol or carbine? Buffer weight? You mention “full stock”, is that a full size rifle stock, A2 Model? Is so it requires a special buffer or a spacer to use a carbine b...

Re: How far can you shoot subs?

Anyone else interested in doing this at distance, I just dropped the hammer on a Brownells 5-25 x 56 MPO scope and got over $300 off on it. It's on sale for $700 and use the promo code TRIGGER for another 10% off. Look and read reviews on the scope. It's priced way under it's fighting weight. After...

Re: How far can you shoot subs?

The effective range of subs, commonly marketed as "subs," can differ based on several factors Subsonic rounds have been developed to travel at a speed below the sound speed, which corresponds to roughly 1,125 feet per second (fps) at sea level. Due to the lower velocity of subs, they exhi...

Re: Loading 180gr Subsonic Rounds

There are a couple ways to look at this. One is to run away because it’s clearly unsafe to work outside the parameters o the loading manual. But that’s no fun. Things I look at. 190 data at 1200 and compare that to the 180 charge weight. Barrel length, you have 8” less barrel, that is probably good ...

Re: How Many Rounds Before Considering a Load "Reliable"

Since you are most interested in loads for an AR, the definition of reliable might be needed. To cycle the action reliably in all conditions, is different than repeatable accuracy. Either way round count is not as important as conditions tested in. Developing a load in the summer heat where I live c...

Going to try again with a different load. Me, dad, and God brother all had a competition with each other. 7.6 gr N1...

Re: 190 Sub-X seating depths

It’s absolutely pointless to measure a loaded cartridge from the base of the brass to he point of the bullet. All that will tell you is if the cartridge will fit in the magazine. Measuring the overall bullet length will show why. What matters the the measurements from cartridge case to bullet ogive,...
