Re: Sizing, crimping and neck tension.

I have an extra new, in box 300blk Lee FC die. I'll send it to anyone in the CONUS for $14.

When I bought my Lee die set, it was supposed to be 3, but was actually 4, so I don't need the separate crimper.

PM me.

Re: Mediocre results tumbling with stainless steel media

+1 on tumbling too long. The acid from the lemishine will eat at the brass, causing the "dull" appearance you see. I use a cheap Belkin lamp timer on my tumbler to shut it off after 3 hours. I always leave brass sitting in there either over night or all day. And it always comes out shiny....

Re: imr 3031

3031 has the consistency of gravel, meters like crap.

I use it for some hot 30-30 hunting loads that I make relatively few of. Still using the same 1lb metal can (!!) I bought in high school.

My 6.8s get 335.

Re: Mediocre results tumbling with stainless steel media

+1 for the Dawn. I use about a spoonful, with a tbs of lemishine. I tumble for about an hour. I drain the black water off, fill with clean water and another tbs of lemishine for about 45. Comes out spotless. I dont know the size of your drums, but a spoonful works for mine. One tbs of lemishine per...

Re: 110gr subs

I use Unique for non-gas checked cast 30-30 loads....

6-7 grains for 1300 fps, (135g, Alox coated). If they go faster than that, they make a real mess in the barrel, so a chronograph is very helpful

Re: QuickLoad and Subsonic powder questions

Don't let QL fool you though.... 4198 is really iffy in 300blk subs, despite how good it looks. The line between subsonic speed and cycling correctly is substantially sharperer thanit is with 1680. Like sranch reported, you can get 1680 to cycle an AR way down into the 700-800 fps realm. 4198 and 57...

Re: variable scope; 1-4 or 3-9?

I have a cheap Weaver Kaspa on my 16".

1.5-6x magnification. Best $179 scope I have ever bought.

The ranging lines are pretty sweet, when the main line is zero'd with supers, the third line down is dead on for subs at 50 yds.

Re: QuickLoad and Subsonic powder questions

Something odd with there.... 10.5g of 5744 (slighty compressed) sends 220s @ 1200fps out of my 16"bbl. I backed it down to 9.4 (not compressed at all) to get 1050-ish. Never seen any pressure indicators with any 5744 load I have tried. I dont have QL. It would be interesting to see Sierra's 30...
