Thanks for the data and test results. I think I am going to stick with the 220gr. I'd rather have a 220gr going 1,050 than a 240gr going 875.
I've tested 220gr Matchings to a hair over 1500fps in a 16'' gun with 1680.
Shouldn't have any trouble at all getting these up to 1050fps.

Re: 240gr Matchkings 2nds - @ .23 cents
I'm not able to spot the undesirable aspect making them a 2nd or blem. My main concern was the diameter and the 20 or so I mic'd were good. I only weighed 10: 1 @ 239.9 7 @ 240 2 @ 240.1 I say they're a steal at this price. Plan on running them fast and slow in a .308 w/ a 1-8 barrel as well as the ...

Re: Stuck! Stuck! Stuck!
Phatdad, very sorry about your misfortune. Gotta work on separating that upper & lower at this point. Do you recall if the buffer tube is the type with a notch cut in the front by the threads for the buffer retaining pin? Or did the buffer retainer just 'butt' up against the front of the buffer ...

I'm jealous. Looks pretty up close and personal for the most part. Long video... shooting starts at 1:30 into vid.
Barnes black-tips are pretty much agreed upon as being 'the' bullet.

Re: 240gr Matchkings 2nds - @ .23 cents
And here I thought I got a bargain at .35 when I bought them on the 15th I almost bought at .35 as well and went after a bunch of the 123 Purple Tips instead. I had them sitting in my cart at .27 cents for a couple days. Finally went to make a buy last night, and they had dropped further. Forced to...

Re: Palmetto Coating Issue
Subs don't hit the water hard enough to deform, so they're able to punch way farther than you would think. I wasn't able to catch the 220 sierra pro hunters or matchkings in my standing water barrel... which was 22'' across - they zipped clear through every time when loaded at sub speeds. Even the 1...
