Re: Lethality of 300blk

I just tested with 110gr black tipped barnes, vanguard magazine can take 59mm long ammo in. Means 2.32". Black tip can be seated only 5mm (0.2"). And it´s not touching rifling that long. My my, I think I don´t have any problems. Even that 110gr barnes can do it (by quickload). Infact press...

Re: Lethality of 300blk

Seems i can get h110 and both 125gr sst and bt. But what i have read from this forum, sst seems more like fragmenting, not expanding bullet. I prefer expanding for animals i'm going to eat. What do you think, is sst much easier to get enough velocity? Offcourse only testing will tell us for sure. My...

Re: Lethality of 300blk

Did some more Quickload research. Seems 125gr B-tip and H110 would be even easier way to get needed energy.

Re: Lethality of 300blk

Thanks for your interest. Whitetail is very marginal game for me, but I guess many ppl in Finland would be interested if 300blk could be loaded "whitetail-legal". Anyway, I have bolt action, 17" barrel 1:7.5 twist, made from .223 Weatherby vanguard. Just checked what Quickload shows w...

Re: Lethality of 300blk

Vihtavuori, others are quite difficult to get. But some are possible.
I forgot one restriction. Bullet should be "designed to expand"...normal VLD´s ain´t, but perhaps hunting version is.

Re: Lethality of 300blk

I just checked, I don't see any joules on my bullets! Damn  I knew Finland had a strong hunting tradition but had no idea they were so restrictive. Some decades ago, there was restriction to not use smaller caliber than 8mm for moose hunting. Why? To be sure precious Finnish army 7,62x53R ...

Re: Lethality of 300blk

Sad, that whitetails here in Finland won´t die with 300 blk. We have strange limit´s: For whitetail, you must have at least 6 gram bullet, whitch has 2000 joules at 100 meter distance OR 8g bullet, with 1700J@100m :D. And for moose, wild boar and bear limits are 9gram/2700J@100m or 10g/200J@100m. C...

Re: suppressor size to Db suppression ratio for minimal added length

Recoil, flash, and sound reduction are excellent, with a unique deep, smooth tone to the report.

Sound reduction is excellent? Makes me wonder why such high-end equipment ain´t tested more, and real results published

To me, that sounds like expensive bling bling.
