Re: Speed and penetration
That's the answer Thank you gentlemen. It definitely explains why I've had better results at lower speeds and ramping up has been making them do erratic trajectories after impact. I'll source some SSTs and give them a try And failing that drop back to my previous load until I find some. What is the...

Re: Speed and penetration
Yo no habla reload, but I try to understand the projectiles in the factory ammo I buy. Isn't the V Max a varmint round designed for explosive expansion? Could be just the wrong projectile for deer that was going too slow before to expand properly. You are right that the v max is a varmint pill. But...

Speed and penetration
I've been loaded resized PMC brass with ADI 2205 with a 110gr hornady v max projectiles and cci small rifle magnum. I was loading a round with 19gr of 2205 with a bench rest primer and it was a good accurate round and killed red deer fine. The penetration was shoulder to shoulder without leaving the...

Re: opening day of trout season - 2016
Nice fish bud. What would be considered trophy size there? much much larger on the browns..... 10+ lbs would be a monster for river browns. the current state record is somewhere just over 41 lbs and was caught about 4-5 hours drive from here in a lake michigan tributary - and is only a few oz under...

Learn something every day. Didn't know that you caught Brown and Rainbow trout inthe states. Knew you had speckled trout. That one of my hobbies when im not filling animals and paper with small holes get the rods out. Never been much into flys so I just bait cast or trawl. http://i67.tinypic.com/58p...

I don't get it. Are the goats pests? Like hogs here in Texas? What's the backstory to this stag removal hunt? Just culling the herd? I love to backpack and shoot stuff. It sure would be fun - I suppose the animals need killing for conservation reasons? The Stags were roaring here about a week or tw...

Re: Maximum penalty
Here we have a license system based on categories of firearms. I won't go into it much but its basically a background check and discussion with your spouse and a friend to guage your mental health. There is also mandatory security. So you would think that if the systems they police put in place to v...

The 10/22s that Walkers Bay refers to are made in New Zealand by I think, MAE especially for the NZ Ruger agent. http://www.mae.co.nz Good quality cans at a good price. Redshift I've seen those recently, they're the carbon fiber tensioned tube unit. The one I'm thinking of was a stainless barrel wi...
