Re: H110 and 120gr Powerbond Flamethrower

Well, it is a 7.5" barrel and the H110 combo can be as you experienced. A can style muzzle device might be just the solution, but you can expect the pyrotechnic display to be similar in a low light setting 8)

Re: One Guy's Issues with a Springfield Saint in 300 BLK

Yowza! If a bunch of country boys can buy components from several different makers and have a build that runs well...WTH. Sounds like they need to do some quality audits pronto. QC/QA was a large part of my job in a aluminum foundry, Expendable Pattern Casting being my production responsibility. I s...

Re: Flattened primers with light loads?

I'm not seeing anything alarming there, in fact my own loads appear very much like that. No evidence of over pressure on the on the brass from my perspective with the exception of slight ejector swipe. H110/296 is great stuff, but will soon let you see warning signs beyond your current charges. Like...

Re: Hornady 190gr Sub-X Load Development

I just checked Hornady's factory load for OAL and BTO. Avg overall length: 2.070, BTO avg: 1.570. Both of those measurements based on 8 rounds. Clearly the bullet nose variance affects the ogive number. Match bullets they are not, find the seating depth that feeds, could be longer is needed, especia...

Re: Ruger American Ranch

If you have the AR mag version, no problem. Older rotary mag rifle is a no go for more than 5-6 rounds. Beyond that, I like mine just fine.

Re: Turning case necks

Hard to say without knowing the neck thickness. In any case, you will need to bell the case mouth to prevent shaving the coating off when seating. Most will recommend the Lyman M die for belling and the Lee collet crimp die to finish things . I was unaware of the Lyman M die back when...so I used th...

Re: Seating bullet deformation

Occasionally we bid on damaged loaded ammo to be pulled down. I have pulled and fired Vmax, SP, and other polymer tipped brands. The tip damage didn't really seem to cause any real loss of accuracy out to 2-300 yds( all .223/5.56 ). These bullets had tips half gone, bent off center and just plan ugl...

Re: Seating bullet deformation

If your seating depth is compressing the powder charge, some powders resist being packed down. The result as the bullet is seated is the ring from the pressure applied. Powder used, OAL and charge weight would be good info for someone here to assist. You can check using a fired case not yet sized/de...

Re: How safe is running cast or coated through a suppressor?

I've done as Dr. Phil has in my .30 can, blast some hotter loads to clean it out a bit. Weigh before and after on the postal scale...no joy. I may have fired a few too many subs or not enough full power stuff. It seems to be a candidate for a sonic bath. The manufacturer will do it for me, it's on t...
